The intensive flow of residents associated with commuting to and from work was also recorded in Mokotów. We have checked how Varsovians travel between particular districts. For comment, we asked Adrian Furgalski, vice president of the TOR Economic Advisers Team.

<img decoding="async" src="https://selectivv.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/18.12_EN-8.png" alt="Map - where are the new metro lines in Warsaw? Within one day, the largest traffic towards this district takes place from Praga Północ, Mokotów, and Wola. We have observed a large volume of travelers especially in Praga Północ (15% of all morning movements). Due to the presence of such stations as Warszawa Wschodnia or Dworzec Wileński, this district is an important transfer point, especially for people from Targówek, but also for the residents of Białołęka and Praga Południe. In Mokotów, where residents use the metro intensively, the percentage of traffic related to commuting to work is 11.5%.

In the case of returning from work, the largest traffic in Warsaw takes place from Śródmieście. In the afternoon and evening communications summit, as much as 43% of all movements we observed in this district. Such a large amount of traffic is associated not only with displacements on the work-house line. Many people stay in the evenings in the evenings due to social meetings in numerous restaurants and clubs. A significant amount of traffic at this time also prevails in Mokotów, which accounts for 12% of all movements in Warsaw. In other districts, the traffic spreads quite evenly and amounts to several percents.

"In Warsaw, communication problems result mainly from the necessity to cross the Vistula line, due to the very uneven distribution of jobs: 740,000. in the left riverside and 160,000 in Praga. During the last election campaign, we heard about many ideas for improving transport in the capital. In addition to completing the second metro line, the following are the most interesting postulates: the construction of Plac Konstytucji and Muranów stations at the first line; extension of this line from Młociny to Białołęka, which despite the extension of the tram line, will need a faster means of transport; continue along the M2 line to Żerań, where a new housing estate is planned for over 20,000 on the area of the former car factory. residents. Fortunately, it is possible to increase the frequency of running trains on the M1 line, which will help meet the growing demand even at the Śródmieście - Mokotów section" - said Adrian Furgalski, vice president of the TOR Economic Advisers Team.

As indicated by Selectivv, the so-called office areas in Mokotow are also the most important points of the communication summit. Mordor, and around the Daszyński roundabout, so-called Isengard, to which many employees commute daily. Appropriately 25% and 20% of the morning traffic from Śródmieście.

"Wola and especially the area of Rondo Daszyńskiego becomes a new office area. The M2 metro line and tramway communication may not be sufficient in this case. An interesting, though distant idea came to the railway proposing the construction of an underground railway connection at the Vistula, from the Wilenski Station to the reconstructed Main Railway Station. An age-old problem is also the way to reach the office buildings located in the so-called Mordor. It is necessary to build a tram connection to the Southern Railway Station, but the concept of building such a line towards Wlochy in the context of the proposed opening of the next metro line is required" - notes Adrian Furgalski.

As part of the analysis, we also checked which directions are most often traveled by the residents of the most populated districts of Warsaw. From Praga Południe, where there are 178,000 Varsovians, in the morning as much as 58% of all displacements take place directly in the direction of Śródmieście, and 11% in the direction of the neighboring Praga Północ. Returns to this district are largely displacements from Prague Północ (25%) and Mokotów (15%). Perhaps this is because some of the workers on the left-bank side of the city, wanting to avoid traffic jams, choose a route through these districts.

More than half (54%) of all traffic related to commuting to work from 150,000. Ursynów residents are directed to Śródmieście.

Popular destinations are also Mokotów (12%) and Praga Północ (11%). Almost exactly the same movement takes place from these districts towards Ursynów in the evening. Relatively the easiest way to get to work is for people living in Wola (140,000 residents) - as many as 60% of them travel to neighboring Śródmieście in the morning and 10% to Praga Północ. Returns take place from these districts almost in exactly the same proportion.

We presented the movements in one day on a specially prepared animation, detailing the intensity of displacements of users of mobile devices throughout the day. On the basis of averaged data, it can be observed that the most intensive traffic is in the morning and early afternoon hours - related to commuting and returning to work.

Adrian Furgalski adds:"The development of each mode of transport must be considered in the context of demographic forecasts for the city, spatial development plan or traffic model, which combines all modes of transport and transport infrastructure elements, which one best meets the expectations related to meeting mobility needs residents.
