Half a year has passed since the first publication of Selectivv Index - indicators prepared on the basis of location data, reflecting trends related to trade and tourism.
Selectivv Index consists of an analysis of three areas:
The analysis covers historical data from mobile devices since October 2017, when the base value of the Selectivv Index was set to 100.
What have we observed during this period? Do the inhabitants of Poland show greater shopping inclinations and are they more likely to visit selected retail outlets? What is the shape of foreign tourist traffic - its size and dynamics of change?
Index Selectivv Handel is based on data from 310 randomly selected commercial facilities monitored by Geotrapping® technology. For the analysis, we selected shopping malls, hypermarkets, discount stores in large and smaller cities, as well as grocery and industrial stores in cities up to 20,000. residents.
In March this year, the value of the indicator was 98.46 points, which will increase to 101.51 points next month. In the second half of the year, we observe its value remaining at a similar level. It reached its highest value in June - 103.14 points and is currently at 103.11 points. Comparing year-to-year data, there is a much greater tendency of compatriots to visit monitored trading points. In no month of this year the index was lower than in the same month of the previous year.
Considering the individual components of Selectivv Trade, we can see that the largest number of customers in the last 6 months have come to hypermarkets (108.22 points compared to 101.27 in March this year) and discount stores (110.68 points compared to 100.82 in March this year) in cities over 300 thousand residents. The number of visits to stores in smaller towns also increased significantly. It is at the level of 99.14 points (in March this year - 89.47 points).
Index Selectivv Gas Stations is calculated based on the number of visits to 131 gas stations located throughout the country. Selected points are monitored in large centers such as Warsaw, Wrocław and Katowice, as well as in smaller cities, such as Andrychów or Żory.
In the current year, only in May we noted a fall in the value of the indicator. From the beginning of the year, when its value was 97.54, it maintained a steady upward trend. In the last four months it has recorded record values. Currently, the value of the Selectivv Index for petrol stations is 111.65 points, which translates into a year-on-year change of + 16.02%.
The Selectivv Foreign Tourism Index includes data on foreign tourists visiting Poland. The groups of users who stayed in our country from 3 to 21 days were taken into account (in order to distinguish a tourist from a person who is on a business trip and foreigners coming to our country in search of work).
Index Selectivv Tourism has been growing since May this year. In the first quarter of 2019, it oscillated at a level close to 100 points. In June it exceeded this value and reached 101.78 points and is currently 105.77 points. It is too early to talk about the growing tourist attractiveness of our country based on indicators, but the data for September show that it may be a trend not related only to the holiday period.
