Selectivv Handel and Selectivv Stacje indicators. In the last two months, Polish people visit retail outlets less frequently. Index Selectivv Handel recorded a decline, and its value is lower than in the corresponding months of last year. The Index Selectivv Stacje also shows fewer customers at service stations, although in this case the situation looks better than last year.
The analysis covers historical data from mobile devices since October 2017, when the base value of the Selectivv Index was set to 100.
Taking into account all types of retail outlets in total, we observe a decrease in the number of visitors by -1.20% compared to October 2019 and by -2.46% compared to November 2018 (-1.42% compared to November 2017). The downward trend continues for the second month. Shopping malls, supermarkets and discount stores in towns with less than 300,000 inhabitants had the greatest impact on the observed changes.
The reasons for the drops should be seen in the fact that both in October and November 2019 there was one trading Sunday, and in 2018 - two. In December, before the holidays, we expect significant increases, the question remains open as to whether there will be a compensation compared to the previous years.
Index Selectivv Stations
The current value of the Selectivv Stations index is 105.68 points. As in the case of retail outlets, we are seeing a decline in the number of visitors month-on-month (-2.21%), but still growing year-on-year (by 6.52%). This shows that gas stations are still beneficiaries of the Sunday trading ban law.
Index Selectivv Turystyka
This is an indicator that recorded a month-on-month increase in value. The current value is 101.21, which is an increase of 0.21%. Year on year, the value of this indicator increased by 1.98%.
The Selectivv Tourism 10 Index for selected nationalities amounted to 104.24 in November, which is 0.33% more than a month earlier. We have observed a greater number of arrivals to Poland of representatives of countries such as Ukraine and Israel.
We wonder if the representatives of these 10 selected nations will be as eager to visit us in December as at the end of last year?
The Selectivv Data Tank analytical and research department is responsible for developing the Selectivv Index and updating the data. To create the index, we use the proprietary Geotrapping® technology, which allows us to collect and analyze data on a group of smartphone and tablet users staying at a given time, in a specific place. Thanks to this, we monitor selected commercial locations and analyze the scale of visits to these places. This makes it possible to observe trends related to trade in our country and the purchasing behavior of Poles in the offline channel. Data from smartphones also allow the analysis of the volume of tourist traffic.
The research includes:
The huge benefit of mobile data analysis is the non-declarative nature of this data. They reflect real purchasing behavior, which is exactly what users do, not what they would like to do or what they think about. This allows you to discover current trends in the economy, and the analysis of a large number of observations enables their early detection.
By analyzing data from smartphones, brands can compare their financial results with data from the market. Check if the decrease in sales is related to the lower number of visits to their store. By comparing data from similar competing locations, they can check whether it is a matter of a misguided marketing strategy or perhaps a weaker market situation.
Data from smartphones also allow you to check the demographic and behavioral profile of customers visiting selected locations, their loyalty or the range of influence of the monitored retail outlet, the so-called catchment area. Thanks to their analysis, it is possible to make better business decisions.
