Last year's edition of the Warsaw Security Forum organized by the Kazimierz Pulaski Foundation attracted over 900 participants from 54 countries. This year, representatives of the security services, NATO and public administration met again to talk about analog and digital threats to public security. We talked about the opportunities and threats related to the use of data on smartphone and tablet users in intelligence work, military activities, and the daily work of security services.
The data obtained from mobile applications allow the collection of relevant information from the advertising point of view and are collected, inter alia, for marketing purposes. The use of location data allows, inter alia, create precise marketing campaigns targeted at people in a specific location, e.g. in a shopping mall or around a gas station. On the basis of information from the mobile channel, it is possible to analyze and study the behavior of specific social groups, inhabitants of cities, regions or entire countries. Data obtained from smartphones and tablets can also be used by intelligence services and representatives of the army.
Similarly to last year, we used our proprietary Wifitrapping service to conduct a survey of guests at the conference. The results obtained on the basis of data from mobile devices were presented in real time on screens located in the conference area. They showed, among others. behavioral profiles of these people. The aim of the study was to present the analytical possibilities related to the availability of this information.
Dominik Karbowski, vice president of Selectivv, participated in a closed roundtable entitled Intelligence in the digital age with representatives of NATO and public administration. During the meeting, he presented topics related to the use of big data and location data in the state defense service and will raise issues related to cybersecurity.
During the Warsaw Security Forum, there was also a speech by the President of Selectivv - Aleksander Luchowski on the use of location data in the service of the state.
"Location data is a source of essential knowledge for anyone who has this data and is able to process and interpret it. At Selectivv, we have approximately 362 pieces of information data about one smartphone user. This data is used by advertisers to successfully conduct marketing campaigns. They can also be used in many other fields. " - says Aleksander Luchowski, president of Selectivv.
"We regularly conduct research projects with scientific units, public administration entities or public benefit organizations. We analyze, among others, tourist traffic, study the intensity of transport traffic and we are the originator of the initiative to improve the safety of Polish citizens under the name" Safe Pole ". We are glad that thanks to cooperation with the Kazimierz Pulaski Foundation during the event, we presented the possibilities of analyzing data from the mobile channel " - Luchowski adds.
