Our research about ERC participants showed, that the most numerous groups of visitors to the European Rover Challenge 2019 were people aged 21-25 (25.6%) and 26-30 years (22.4%). At the invitation of the organizers, we conduct Wifitrapping research, which allowed to learn more about the demographic & psychographic characteristics of the participants of the fifth edition of the international Martian robots competition taking place in Kielce.
The competition of over 300 constructors attracted participants from all regions of Poland. As the mobile data obtained by us showed, most people came from the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship (nearly 20%). A large number of visitors were residents of the Silesian Voivodeship (11.2%) and Lesser Poland Voivodeship (9%). The event was also attended by representatives of such distant parts of the country as Warmia and Mazury, Podlasie, and Western Pomerania.
As Łukasz Wilczyński, president of the European Space Foundation, the main organizer of the event, emphasized: Thanks to Selectivv data "...we know, e.g. that 43% of our guests are interested in new technologies, 14% are astronomy enthusiasts, and one in five ERC visitors came there with the family. This is very valuable data for us, because it shows that there are no random participants at our event and will allow us to better tailor the program of the next edition to the needs and interests of the audience. From the study we also know that ERC visitors came from all over the country."
The research was conducted using Selectivv Wifitrapping technology. Thanks to this we counted participants who had WiFi enabled on their smartphones or had ever agreed on their smartphone to share precise location and collected anonymous data about these users. The research sample finally amounted to 4104 participants.
The analysis allowed to determine not only the demographic & psychographic characteristics of the event participants, but also the time when the event was most often visited by them. In addition, the organizer received a detailed report identifying the most visited zones, information on the average time spent by participants at the event and percentage of participants who visited the event several times.
