Based on data from the periods June 27-July 26, 2020, and June 20-July 21 2019, we examined what interregional travel looked like, i.e. people who moved to another voivodeship. This means that if someone lives in the Pomeranian Voivodeship and spent time at the seaside in the same voivodeship - they are not included in the research.
Based on the research, we can see that due to the pandemic situation, vacation plans and vacation ideas have changed dynamically. Data on interregional travel shows that in July 2020, Poles traveled less than a year earlier. Overall, we can see a 38.8% decrease in traffic compared to 2019 (all of Poland - also outside the above-mentioned regions).
Tourist arrivals to the seaside: total + 17.45%; to individual districts:
Tourist arrivals to Masuria (Great Lakes Trail): decrease by 16.9% vs. 2019
Tourist arrivals to the mountains: -13.23%
East Pomerania - Mainly tourists from:
West Pomerania - Mainly tourists from:
Masuria - Mainly tourists from:
Mountains (Małopolska + Podkarpackie) - Mainly tourists from:
Mountains (Dolnośląskie, Opolskie, Śląskie) - Mainly tourists from:
As far as we can see that the change in the number of departures from voivodships is diversified - it decreased in 6 (from -0.78 pp from Pomorskie to -8.62 pp in Świętokrzyskie) in 10 it increased (from +0.09 pp from Greater Poland to +11.05 pp from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship). In the case of a trip to the analyzed regions, in most cases the traffic decreased (from -1.66 pp from Lublin to -27.28 pp from Warmia and Mazury). Only from Małopolska (+2.68 pp) and Greater Poland (+3.04 pp) more people left for the analyzed regions. This may mean that Poles have remained mobile even in the present situation, but have resigned from mass trips to popular holiday regions.
