The recent events that took place on the US Capitol will undoubtedly go down in the history of this country as one of the most disturbing. Media and people on social media reported dozens of protesters broke into one of the most important government buildings. According to experts, the events are the result of decades of liberal politics and capitalism, but the internet could undoubtedly play a major role in the escalation of events again. It is worth considering how much the Internet and social media have an impact on events in the real world.
Users of social media should always follow the regulations of the website. Usually, it is accepted immediately when creating an account. This is what Twitter refers to by blocking the recent US President's tweets:
This is the first time Twitter has reacted so strong and decisive to a post from a public figure. So far, the portal has responded by adding special notes to individual tweets, for example regarding the US elections. According to Spider's Web, Donald Trump's account was also blocked for 12 hours. This is also the first time Twitter has released its statement on an official profile:
Text from the Tweet: "As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C., we have required the removal of three @realDonaldTrump Tweets that were posted earlier today for repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy." Adding later: "This means that the account of @realDonaldTrump will be locked for 12 hours following the removal of these Tweets. If the Tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked.
It is worth remembering that social media are tools for earning money, corporate products. Their reactions are often dictated by the good of the company, its profits and PR. Unfortunately, politicians and influencers often provide false information on their profiles because they know that they have a large audience there that will listen to them. Sometimes - as in the case mentioned above - they can lead to an escalation of the conflict. However, there is also the issue of freedom of speech. Surely, many people may be upset when their publications are removed. It is worth noting, however, that in fact these are the first such significant steps of portals in restricting the publication of a public figure, which may have appeared too late. But what should we keep in mind when using social media professionally?
Portals such as Twitter or Facebook are commonplace for many marketing specialists around the world. Direct contact with customers and the ease of reaching new recipients gives measurable sales benefits. For example, when creating advertisements, the social media specialist must remember about the strict regulations of the website on which he will promote himself. Failure to do so may result in the inability to complete the ad, and in extreme cases, blocking the account. This is understandable - in this case, the marketer uses a paid website, a service from another company, and therefore should adapt to it.
